La Mesa Política del Frente Amplio rechazó "enfáticamente" la reforma laboral y la responsabilizó de "avasallar los derechos de los trabajadores". Por medio de un comunicado la fuerza política afirmó que "viola los compromisos asumidos de forma tripartita en la OIT".
A la salida de la mesa el diputado del MPP Alejandro Sánchez expresó que en el Frente Amplio están muy preocupados "por las señales" y por la "presencia de una fuerte ofensiva conservadora". Además, el legislador consideró las leyes laborales de Brasil son parte de ello.
Sánchez expresó que en esa reforma se cercenan muchos derechos como la negociación tripartita, lo que hace regresar a los paradigmas de la década de 1990. En el comunicado se señala que la reforma "arrasa con los derechos básicos de los trabajadores: jornada laboral, descanso, salario, protección contra despidos, etc.".
